Induction Heating Equipment

MSI Automation, Inc. has been providing induction heating solutions for many industrial applications and for medical and materials research for the last 20 years. Hyperthermia is being used for the treatment of brain tumors, especially in infants, where other methods of Hyperthermia treatment have proven unsuccessful. Hyperthermia by means of RF induction heating has the specific advantage of focused heating of the tumor cells, exclusively, avoiding heat damage to surrounding tissue.

Induction heating systems have been installed in many situations where induction was not previously considered or to replace older, less reliable systems.

Significant improvements in heating efficiency and reliability have resulted for each customer, because of the evolutionary development of solid state electronics in recent years.

MSI Automation offers low, medium and high frequency induction heating systems.

Low to medium frequency (10-150 kHz) induction heating systems take advantage of their deep penetrating heating characteristic. As such, they raise the average metal or electrically conductive material temperature as fast and uniform as possible. And in some circumstances, the only method by which research material temperatures can be raised to 3000-4000 F degrees has been with the induction process.

Applications include: silver brazing, tempering, heat treating, heat shrinking, susceptor and crucible heating. For example, copper tube brazing in the appliance industry has often presented engineering challenges to the induction heating field. MSI has pioneered several unique types of equipment to heat brazed joints where only torch heating was once exclusively considered.

Higher frequency systems (200-450+ kHz) are unique in their ability heating thinner materials, geometrically complex objects, conductive particles or substrates as small as at the sub-micron level. An increasingly common application is the emerging science of induction hyperthermia therapy for cancer treatment.
